Description Most AICS magazines were built for hard use on a range gun—strong, yes, but heavier and bulkier than they need to be for a rifle that gets carried in the mountains. We built these for hunters and builders running modern chassis systems, M5 bottom metal, and Remington 700-pattern custom actions who want reliable feeding without hanging extra steel off the rifle. We machine every magazine from a single billet of 6061 aluminum. That gives you stiffness without the weight penalty of steel, along with a cleaner, tighter magazine body that stays quiet in the rifle and rides better in a pack. The result is an aluminum AICS magazine that seats positively, carries well, and holds its geometry under real field handling. Our SMR Aluminum AICS Magazines are offered in the configurations serious shooters actually need: Long Action Magnum/PRC Short Action Magnum/PRC Short Action Standard The Long Action Magnum/PRC magazine is a CIP-length (3.850″) AICS-pattern magazine weighing just 2.8 oz. It is designed around a Remington 700-footprint long action with Wyatt’s extended box cut, allowing you to run longer overall lengths without fighting the system. It is tuned for the PRC family and other similar body-sized magnum cartridges. Our Short Action Magnum/PRC magazine is built for short-action magnum and PRC-class cartridges where clean feeding and low weight matter. Our Short Action Standard magazine is designed for standard short-action cartridges and gives custom builders and hunters the same single-billet aluminum construction in a more conventional short-action format. For custom rifle builds, the point is simple: the magazine has to feed, lock up clean, and stay out of the way. A good AICS-pattern magazine should work with the rifle, not add unnecessary weight or noise. That matters on a mountain rifle, a backcountry hunting rifle, or any precision rifle built to be carried and used hard. Important note on cartridge fit: The Magnum/PRC magazines are tuned around PRC-family and similar body-sized cartridges. Belted cartridges are not recommended, as the belt can catch at the rear of the feed lips and compromise feeding. Chassis compatibility: The Long Action Magnum/PRC magazine is intended for chassis systems set up for a 3.850″ magwell, including: XLR Industries Element 4.0 XLR Industries ATOM MDT HNT26 Because of the CIP length and chassis-specific magwell geometry, the long action version is not a safe bet in standard AICS or M5 DBM setups designed around shorter internal lengths.
